S is for Sin City #AtoZChallenge

Well so we are on the letter S on this A to Z Challenge, we are really getting towards the end now. I'm not going to miss it lol. Sticking to a theme was hard, I started to find it boring after awhile, I think going random would of been a lot more fun, could of covered many topics :) Even though I love films and TV shows, I still would of gone random, maybe next time if I do it, next year, I'll go random. So my film today is Sin City. This was a really impressive film, IMHO, I liked the fact it still had the comic book feel to the film. Really loved this one. I had bought the film, but left my film collection in England, and my roommate at the time gave away all my films, yeah I know sad hey? I was pretty upset about that as well, as I had a really super great collection. Anyway so what's this film about you ask?

Four tales of crime adapted from Frank Miller's popular comics, focusing around a muscular brute who's looking for the person responsible for the death of his beloved Goldie, a man fed up with Sin City's corrupt law enforcement who takes the law into his own hands after a horrible mistake, a cop who risks his life to protect a girl from a deformed pedophile, and a hitman looking to make a little cash.

The sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is due out in 2013 and I can't wait for it, hopefully I can get another copy of Sin City before the next one comes out. It sucks it takes time to collect good films, and they just poof disappearing like that, well it's not fun, it's sad, upsetting and well grrr lol. Anyway life goes on, collection can be made again. Hope you enjoyed this edition of the A to Z Challenge, see you Monday :)

R is for Rise of the Planet of the Apes #AtoZChallenge

I have been waiting to finally see a film about the Planet of the Apes, and finally one came out. I was very excited to see it, as were I'm sure thousands of people. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed, there was not as much interaction with the Apes as I had liked, but I had to keep reminding myself that this was how it all began, from the moment the ape was born, so even so, I was still excited, and happy to see it. I have made it part of my DVD collection! If you don't know what this film is about, here is the quick storyline.

At the story's heart is Caesar (Andy Serkis), a chimpanzee who gains human-like intelligence and emotions from an experimental drug. Raised like a child by the drug's creator, Will Rodman (James Franco) and a primatologist Caroline Aranha (Freida Pinto), Caesar ultimately finds himself taken from the humans he loves and imprisoned in an ape sanctuary in San Bruno. Seeking justice for his fellow inmates, Caesar gives the fellow apes the same drug that he inherited. He then assembles a simian army and escapes the sanctuary - putting man and ape on a collision course that could change the planet forever.

I am so looking forward any sequels that may come out! I hope you enjoyed this edition of A to Z Challenge, have a great weekend!

Q is for Quarantine (2008) #AtoZChallenge

I can't believe it's getting closer to the end of the A to Z Challenge, I can't say I won't be happy it will be over, only because I have felt like I had to do this, because I did commit, and I try to finish what I start, so on we go! Today is Q, I choose Quarantine it's a remake of Spanish film-maker Jaume Balagueró's [Rec] (2007). Balagueró wrote the original script for [REC], which was then adapted for Quarantine by American film-makers Drew and John Eric Dowdle (also director). I can speak, read and write in Spanish, so I probably could follow along with the film, although I have to say that sometimes, there have been some films that were made in Spanish but subtitled in English that I just couldn't follow, as they spoke way too quick for my brain to catch up. So I try to stick to English speaking films :) So what's this film about you ask?

Reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, Internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew's videotape.

As I've mentioned before, I like scary gorey films, more blood and gore the better, but that's just me. I also love any type of Zombie films, and/or anything related to the Apocalypse or when the CDC is involved, I guess I like to see worse case scenarios? Why I don't know, it's the darkness in me I suppose. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the trailer, and if you seen it, tell me what you think, or if you seen the Spanish version, I'd like to know what you thought of that one as well. There has been a sequel that came out in 2011, called Quarantine 2: Terminal, if you liked the first, you may want to see the second one as well, and I think I heard there is a third coming out, but there is no evidence that I found of that yet. Well that's all for now, have a good day!
